Certification Board adds new policies (24-Aug-2010)

The Certification Board, which governs policy for the certification exams, recently approved two new policies that align with our goal to improve patient care and will also help us gain accreditation for additional exams:

  1. Change in the handling of confidential student exam data
The new policy states that confidential information will not be disclosed without the candidate's permission and that score results will be sent directly to the candidates. Information that is not considered confidential (and may be shared with schools or employers) includes certification status, certification number and the current status of a credential. Based on this new policy, effective Oct. 1, NHA will not disclose confidential information directly to schools. Confidential information includes test scores, pass/fail results and percentage correct scores.
  2. New exam retake policy
Effective immediately, candidates must wait 30 days to re-test after each exam failure. After three failed attempts, a candidate must wait 12 months after the last attempt.
