Certification Process for CPT, CPCT and CCMA
Once all eligibility requirements are met, applicant will receive the Home/Self Study Program related to your area(s) of certification. In the home/self study program you will receive:
A Proctors oath
Once you are in receipt of your packet, you will need to determine where and when you will take the National Examination. The NHA strongly recommends testing with your employer. If you are going to test with your employer, the employer must sign the Proctor’s Oath. You then need to contact the NHA to tell us when you are going to test and if that test will be paper/pencil or an online test. When the test date is determined, an exam will be shipped to the testing site. If it is an online exam, a link and a password will be sent to the designated email.
If you are not going to test with your employer, you will need to find a test site. Listed below are some test site options:
A proctor is required for these sites. A proctor oath must be provided in all testing situations.
Once you have completed the exam, paper/pencil exams must be sent back to the NHA. Online exams do not require any special shipping and handling; other than a Proctor.
It takes 21 days from when we receive your exam for results/certs/cards to be processed. Online exams may be received faster, but the processing time remains the same.
*All candidates for Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Patient Care Technician/Associate/Nurse Technician (CPCT/CPCA/CNT) and Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) must take the National Certification exam at a proctored test site. Exam information will be sent with your Home/Self Study Program.
Self Study
The NHA Certification Self Study Program is a growing opportunity that we are offering to experienced individuals who are already working in a health care delivery profession but are not presently certified! Being certified speaks volumes about the individual's professionalism, and is becoming a protocol for many organizations, unions and hospitals throughout the country!
NHA Self Study Certification offers an opportunity to current healthcare workers, to demonstrate that they are proficient in their field. As far as a job and career are concerned, obtaining the NHA certification can show a prospective employer that the individual is a serious and dedicated professional interested in career advancement. (This program is available only to experienced allied healthcare professionals.)
