Frequently Asked Questions (Schools)
1. What is the process for offering NHA certification exams to our students?
Our primary goal is to increase the quality of care and make the healthcare industry better one healthcare worker at a time via our partnership with Allied Health schools. NHA is recommended and recognized by colleges, healthcare career programs and healthcare employers around the country. Offering national certification as part of a school’s program helps recruit, retain and place students as well as provides students with a competitive edge in the marketplace. We welcome organizations who share our goals to become a part of the growing list of those who wish to make the healthcare industry better one healthcare worker at a time.
NHA offers affiliation options for accredited schools as well as those schools who are in the process of gaining accreditation.

2. What if a student is unsuccessful on the first exam attempt?
Candidates must wait 30 days to re-test after each exam failure. After three failed attempts, a candidate must wait 12 months to re-test.
3. How soon will students receive exam results?
Results of online exams are available to students immediately. Results, certification ID cards, and certificates (with passing results) are mailed to students within approximately 10 business days.
We understand that aggregate reporting on your students’ performance on the national certification exam is valuable to you. NHA provides schools with a report that summarizes the pass rate of your students and compares that to the state and national average pass rates.
With regard to students, confidential information is not disclosed without a student’s permission. Score results are considered confidential and are sent directly to students along with applicable certificates and certification cards.
Information that is not considered confidential (and may be shared with schools or employers) includes certification status, certification number, and the current status of a credential.
4. Can our school administer NHA certification exams to our students at our location?
Schools who are affiliated with NHA may administer NHA certification exams at their location. NHA offers affiliation options for accredited schools as well as those schools who are in the process of gaining accreditation. 5. Will our school ever be asked to host exam participants from the outside?
Only students who have completed a program at your school will test at your school. NHA certification exams are available to outside students at more than 600 PSI Testing Centers throughout the United States. You should direct any outside students who inquire to visit www.nhanow.com to register for an exam at one of these locations. After they have pre-registered, they will receive instructions on how to schedule their exam with PSI.
6. How should we prepare our students for the exam?

7. Who bears the cost of the exams?
Most schools that group enroll their students include the exam as a part of their tuition charges, then pay the NHA directly for each student.
8. What are the requirements to take the NHA national certification exam?
Student must be at least 18 and have a High School Diploma, or equivalency, as well as one of the following:
Student must have successfully completed an Allied Health training program within the past year. Student must have worked within the last year in the field of certification for a minimum of one year. 9. What do students need to bring to the testing site?
Students taking an online exam must bring photo identification. Students taking a paper/pencil exam must bring a CURRENT GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID and two number 2 pencils.
10. What is NHA’s refund policy?
There are no refunds offered on certification exams unless the scheduled exam date is canceled by the NHA. However, exams may be rescheduled within 90 days of the original exam date. Exams are non transferable and must be taken by the person that is registered for the exam.
