Information Update: Why “As I prepared to graduate and sit for a national exam, I began to ready myself with the necessary tools for the exam. Study guide, pencils and a current picture ID. It was then that I realized that my license (not a picture ID) was going to expire before my exam. Needless to say after four trips back and forth to The Department of Motor Vehicles, I finally have a current license with a picture. My current license helped me attain my certification for my present job. Once I began to interview for a job, I really understood that certification gave me a competitive edge from other people who were interviewing. Most of the other candidates also had certification and the better paying jobs all asked for copies of my credentials. At one interview, the office manager asked if my certifications were up-to-date because, as she said, “It separates the serious from the non-serious. Who wants to receive care from someone who has not taken the time to renew their certification?” I did get a great job in the Community Hospital and I love working there and yes, they required certification! Following directions is hard enough but thank goodness we had them or we would have never arrived at our destination. Don't you wish that our career path also came with a set of written directions?
