Required
Requirements: [NAC 639.240]
1. Applicant must be at least 18 years old.
2. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
3. Applicant must not have been convicted of a felony or have a history of drug abuse.
4. Applicant must submit an application ($40) to the pharmacy board.
5. Applicant must complete a board-approved pharmacy technician training program.
Renewal
Required
Applicant must contact the pharmacy board to obtain an application at pharmacy@govmail.state.nv.us or call (775) 850-1440 or (800) 364-2081 and submit the renewal application to the pharmacy board by October 31st on even-numbered years.
Training
Required
Applicant must successfully complete a board-approved training program. Training requirements include an orientation to the practice of pharmacy and instruction in the topics listed in regulations.

Ratio

The technician-to-pharmacist ratio is 2:1. A pharmacist may not supervise more than two pharmaceutical technicians or two pharmaceutical technicians-in-training at one time. [NAC 639.250]
Continuing Education
Required
Technicians are required to complete at least 12 hours of in-service continuing education training biannually. [NAC 639.254]
One hour of law CE is now needed prior to licensure renewal. This will need to be met prior to the Oct 31, 2010 renewal.
Can the ExCPT be Taken?
Yes
Certification is completely voluntary. Nevertheless, ExCPT certification provides national recognition of your knowledge and skills and may make you more marketable. ExCPT is recognized by the Nevada Board of Pharmacy.
