Certified Phlebotomy/EKG Technician, (CPT/CET) (combo)

A Certified Phlebotomy/EKG Technician (CPT/EKG) performs both the task and responsibilites of a Phlebotomist and EKG Technician. A CPT/CET may perform some or all of the following duties. However, they are not limited to just these responsibilites:

• Assembles equipment and disposable containers for needles
  
• Tests for drug levels in the blood
  
• Looks for abnormal cells in the body and body fluids
  
• Performs complex chemical, biological, and microscopic tests
• May conduct patient interviews and take vital signs
• Performs basic Phlebotomy proceedures
• Operate and maintain electrocardiograph machines
• Perform EKG’s, stress testing and Holter monitorsing
• Keys information into a machine or marks tracing to indicate positions of chest electrodes.
• Edits and forwards final test results to attending physician for analysis
• May schedule appointments and type doctor’s interpretations
