An Explosion of Three Million Health Care Jobs

Today, healthcare is at a cross-roads, as providers struggle to maintain quality service with increasing shortages of people to care for elderly, sick, convalescing and disabled people - as well to keep people healthy.

For starters, in the next four years, recruiters predict an explosion of at least three million more new health-related jobs. Trained, caring
people will be needed to work in and outside of hospitals - at home, in doctors' offices and nursing homes--using high-tech diagnostic and treatment procedures to care for an aging baby-boom population.

To make the need sharper, while many nurses are retiring, nursing school enrollment is sharply declining, even though the median wage for a registered nurse is over $45,000.
