A Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CORST) prepares operating rooms so that they are sterile. A CORST may perform the following duties but is not limited to:

• Performs cleaning and sterilization of instruments
  
• During surgeries, a CORST is on hand to assist
  
• Preps surgeons and nurses to go into the sterile environment
  
• Before and after surgery, a surgical technician transports patients to the operating room, and to recovery rooms, ICUs, or regular hospital rooms
• Set up of steril surgical trays
